It looks like the R2 is the first model where the GPU was integrated with the motherboard, meaning that you can't replace it. If you have the R1, the GPU is replacable, assuming you can find one. There have been a number of Alienware laptops that had '17' in the name, so I am not sure which specific model you have? It sounds like it could be the Alienware 17 R1 or Aliewnare 17 R2. The only thing I haven't done is do anything to the card physically.Ĭan anybody help me out? Is my video card pooched? I have an NVidia Geforce GTX 880M that is in my Alienware 17. It installed successfully but still have the same result on the device manager. I proceed to install the latest driver for the card (425.31). After this was done, I was getting the same result on the device manager. I proceeded to use the Windows 10 media upgrade tool. The nvidia video card was still telling me the same thing (Code 43). Once this was done, before I did anything else, I checked the device manager. After using this method, it resets my laptop to the original, out-of-box state with Windows 7. Did a complete AlienRespawn (using my backup DVDs). Did a complete reset of Windows 10 (did a complete wipe of my hard drive (took 6 hours)) Tried to restore Windows to a previous time (however it was unsuccessful) uninstalled and reinstalled the latest driver (the driver reinstalled successfully)
I tried several things to rectify this issue: The driver status states "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems.
